Hand in Hand Christian Preschool
150 W 29th Street
Yuma, AZ 85364
Hand in Hand Christian Preschool has small class sizes, is one of the only preschools in town that does not also offer day care, and they have great longevity with their teachers. Mrs. Parsons, the director and teacher of the 5-day preschool class is now teaching children whose parents were once in her preschool class.
Things to know:
Children need to be 3-years old by August 31 and potty trained.
There are waiting lists and it can be difficult to get in. It’s never too early to put your child on the waiting list, there is no cost to be put on the waiting list. Just call the school and they’ll add your child.
Children rotate being the “leader” for the day. On their leader day, they are responsible for bringing in a healthy snack for the class, they get a special “leader” sticker and they get to hold the flag when the class says the pledge of allegiance. No more than once a month, children are asked to bring in paper goods such as napkins, paper towels, or cups.
They offer 4 different programs:
2-day preschool for 3 year olds, Thursday & Friday from 9:00am – 12:00pm = $120 a month
3-day preschool for 4/5 year olds, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday from 9:00am – 12:00pm = $140 month
5-day preschool for 4/5 year olds, Monday – Friday from 9:00am – 12:00pm = $260
5-day kindergarten, Monday – Friday from 8:30am – 12:30pm = $315
*Monthly tuition shown is for the 2014/2015 school year.
Preschool children may be dropped off as early as 8:30 for an additional $1 and may stay “extended day” Tuesday – Friday until 2:00pm by advance sign-up for an additional $3 per day. Kindergarteners may stay “extended day” until 2:00pm for an additional $2 per day. A child that is 3, potty trained, and on the Hand in Hand waiting list for the following school year may come for just the “extended day” even though they are not currently enrolled at the school (advance sign-up still required).
The school is located off 4th Ave (near the Walgreen’s) on 28th Street at the Sierra Vista Presbyterian Church. Call (928) 344-2519 for more information or to put your child on the waiting list.
My oldest son attended Mrs. Parson’s 5-day program and really enjoyed it. My youngest started going just for the extended day while his brother was still there (really helped him transition!) and went on to the 2-day preschool program at age 3 and then the 5-day program at age 4.
