The Yuma Relay for Life is an overnight experience you will never forget. For a night, we CELEBRATE Cancer Survivors, REMEMBER those who lost their fight with the disease, and FIGHT BACK thru fund raising efforts to find a cure. We walk all night because “Cancer Never Sleeps”. Over 80 teams and 1,200 participants walk in Relay fashion as each team in represented on the track at all times. We start our event with the Survivor Lap, and last year over 380 of us walked, inspired by cheers and tears.
Luminarias are white paper bags with candles in them that light the way at night. These Luminarias can be purchased in memory or in honor of someone and their name will be placed on the bag and placed on the track. It’s so amazing to see all these bag lit up at night and knowing that each one of those bags represents someone affected by cancer.
