Yuma Libraries


There are eight libraries under the Yuma County Library District!

Hopefully you will visit one soon and expose your children to the wonderful world of reading!

Our local libraries are an invaluable resource for education, growth, and FUN!

Please check out the Yuma County Library District Calendar for the most up-to-date information about story time and other programs. They often take breaks from their programs for many weeks at a time, so the calendar has the most accurate information. Just click on the boxes to the left to filter which information you are looking for (example:  Main Library, Children).

Main Library: 2951 S. 21st Dr. Yuma 85364

What a treasure we have! The Main Library has a beautiful children’s area, featuring a reading cave with twinkly stars, a tree with nooks for sitting and reading, and a small play area in the corner with Duplo blocks. Storytime at the Main Library is lots of fun! They are full of music and energy in a very kid-friendly space. Some storytimes offer a simple craft afterwards. The Main library also hosts the Brain Box Playgroup (see calendar for dates and times), which is an opportunity for children age 0-5 to engage in interactive activities with a parent (limit 15 children, free). Don’t forget to say hi to the fish on the way out (don’t worry, your kids will remind you)!  The Main Library is also where MOMS Club of Yuma Southwest meets on the first Monday of each month at 9:30 AM.

Heritage Library:  350 Third Ave Yuma, AZ 85364

 The Heritage Library, located in a park-like setting at the corner of 4th Ave and 3rd Street (although technically the address is Third Ave, confused yet?), is not as modern as the Main branch but still has plenty to offer! It has a cozy children’s section with huge stuffed animals staring at you from the shelves above! Books are well-organized and there are plenty of computers for games or research. Parking is easy and close, and you might even see a random rooster on the lawn. How fun, right? The Heritage branch hosts a storytime on Fridays at 10:30 (check calendar because this has been suspended for a while), and offer kids movie nights every Thursday. Please consult the Calendar to find out what movie is playing this week!

Foothills Library:  13226 E. South Frontage Rd Yuma, AZ 85367

The Foothills Library is not as large as the Main branch, but it is relatively new and has a nice children’s area. If your kids like to read, they are sure to find a cozy spot to hang out with a book! They do have storytimes for various ages so check the calendar to find out when!  The Main library also hosts the Brain Box Playgroup (see calendar for dates and times), which is an opportunity for children age 0-5 to engage in interactive activities with a parent (limit 15 children, free).

There are also library branches in San Luis, Somerton, Wellton, Dateland, and Roll.

**Please note that space is limited for storytimes and Brain Box playgroups, so make sure to get your “ticket” from the children’s librarian to make sure you get a spot! Just go a few minutes early to get your ticket.**
