Barkley Ranch Park (and Mesquite Elem.)

Barkley Ranch has its own little park over near the corner of Avenue D and 28th Street. There is a large, grassy field for soccer or frisbee, a playground area, and a swingset (big-kid swings only). This park has no sunshades or restrooms. It’s a nice place to gather with your neighbors, and maybe meet some new ones!

If you are looking for a little more diversity and fun in Barkley Ranch, head over to the Mesquite Elementary school (at the end of 28th street in Barkley Ranch, just park in the bus loop). You can sneak through the gate near the soccer and baseball fields and there are two schoolyard playgrounds there.

These playgrounds are fun because they offer some different activities. The first one has lots of climbing equipment, monkey bars, and a fun twisty slide.

The second playground (which my kids have named the “Rapunzel park” because it has a rock-wall tower to climb) is better for younger kids, with plenty of slides, bridges and climbers.

Both Mesquite parks have a large (big-kid) swingset.

I am not 100% sure about the rules for using the playgrounds at the elementary schools, but obviously you can only go after school hours. Please be considerate if you go and remember that you are on school grounds!
