Yuma family needs your help!
Imagine hearing that your 4-day old little boy needed brain surgery. And then imagine hearing that he would have to be flown to New York for more surgery. This is the reality for a local Yuma family and their (now 10-month old) son, Evander.

(here is some more information about Evander’s condition)
Evander was born with a serious and rare condition called a Vein of Galen Malformation, which occurs during embryonic development and results in abnormal communication between the arteries and veins in the blood vessels of the brain. At 4 days of age, Evander had his first embolization surgery with significant complications. At 4 months of age, he had a second embolization with additional complications. In March 2012, the family traveled to New York for Evander to have surgery by one of the world’s leading endovascular surgeons. That surgery was successful with 2 embolizations and no complications. The surgeon expects to need the family to return to New York for several more surgeries.
