Kennedy Park, located at 23rd St. & Kennedy Lane, has a ton of stuff to keep your family busy all year long!
Here are a few of the highlights:
Kennedy Park – Playground
Of course, the Kennedy Complex has a great playground! There are actually two playgrounds … the larger one features a whole bunch of slides, a bridge, and climbing structures (it’s just like the one down at Gateway Park).
There is another little park right next to it with a dinosaur (or is it an alligator… you decide!) and some other fun creatures to climb around on. Both parks are shaded and there are ramadas all over the place for a quick picnic!
Kennedy Park has a few restrooms available, which is always good to know when you are out and about with your kids.
In the summertime, the Kennedy Pool is the perfect place to cool off!
They offer swimming lessons through Parks and Recreation as well as other programs (Scuba, etc.).This pool has a huuuge water slide for bigger kids, as well as the little froggie slide that the preschool set will adore.

Kennedy Skateboard Park
Got some skater boys or girls in your family? Would you prefer that they practice their tricks in an actual skatepark and not on a makeshift ramp in your front yard? Kennedy Complex has its own official Skateboard/BMX park which was completely upgraded as of June 2012! You also might find it fun just to go out and watch some evening… this is an extreme sport and is very exciting to watch. The Kennedy Skateboard Park is open and free of charge to the public from sunrise to 11:00 pm, daily. Skateboarders must provide their own skateboard, helmet, knee and elbow pads and follow all safety and skateboard postings.
Up for some horseshoes? Kennedy has that too. I am not sure if you can rent horseshoes or if you have to bring your own, but I thought it was kind of cool that they had this horseshoe pit available to use!
They also have six volleyball courts, 27 shuffleboard lanes, a basketball court, and a baseball field.
Kennedy Inline Skating rink
Check out this inline skating rink! The Kennedy In-Line Hockey Rink is a lighted full size hockey rink. It is not open to the public but is available for rentals, private skate parties, and special events. The Kennedy Hockey Rink is used September through December by youth leagues and by traveling teams December through May.
