New Parent Support (on MCAS Yuma) offers a wide range of support services to military families with children from birth to five years of age. The following programs are available (all are free!).
- Stork Club is a play group for families who have an infant from 0 – 12 months of age. This is a great place to learn to play with your children and meet other spouses, expanding your support group. Stork Club includes toys, games, social interaction with other moms, and finishes up with a 15-20 minute educational segment by an RN on issues new moms may face such as colic. Stork Club meets on Thursdays from 10:30am – 11:30am in Building 645, room 105 (Bldg 645 is located across from the Base Theater). For more information, call the MCAS Yuma New Parent Support Group at (928) 269-2308.
- Playmorning is another play group offered on base for parents and children 5 and under. Held on Mondays from 10:00am – 11:00am at the Station Chapel’s Fellowship Hall, this is a great indoor activity with lots of toys and opportunity for climbing while acting as in informal support group for parents. Playmorning is an interactive play group designed to teach parents developmentally appropriate play and to help children improve their social, cognitive, and motor skills. For more information, contact Gail with the Counseling Support Branch at (928) 269-2561.
- Friday Toddler Craft Program is for 2-5 year olds and includes a craft and circle time with songs. This group meets on Fridays at 10:00am in Building 645, room 105 (Bldg 645 is located across from the Base Theater).
